@CheeseChameleon1945 and @Great Argus No no no! Cichlids are wonderful! They are fascinating because they are so adaptable and so flexible in morphology and in behaviour that they can evolve amazingly quickly. Many of them are also very beautiful.
BTW I agree that it's a species in the Geophagus group, but I can't say more from that photo.
@gentle lemur Often frustrating to identify, not that I dislike them! I currently keep a couple cichlids, so saying I dislike them would be silly indeed!
I just visited in the last few days and have full signage of the zoo. I can confirm that this tank is signed for Geophagus as @Great Argus suggested - specifically G. altifrons.
