Giant Eland

I believe he is the last individual in all AZA facilities.
This is not entirely true. He is the last male; however, there are two young females on display at the African Safari Wildlife Park in Port Clinton, Ohio, which is run by the company (International Animal Exchange) that owns the entire population.

@twilighter -- If they were still there in October, they are likely still there now. They wouldn't ship them north in the winter. I knew they were supposed to leave, but I had not heard whether or not they actually had yet. Either way I wasn't sure if they were still on display. San Diego moved their females off display at the Safari Park ahead of shipping them out.

I do not know what IAE's plans are for them. I am not even 100% sure if any intact males still exist in the population. San Diego castrated their males before they moved them from the Safari Park to the Zoo, and Miami's last male died.

@Kudu21 Thank you for the answer! I didn't know that San Diego's males are castrated. I have seen at least 5 young animals/calves at the Safari Park in February 2020, but not sure about the gender.

I know this was discussed already, but it will be extremely sad, if IAS still have breeding males and don't make their mind.

@twilighter The last round of calves was born in 2019, and I believe they were all females. If I remember correctly, the last male was born in 2017-ish. After a failed ultimatum with IAE, the decision was made to cease breeding immediately. The remaining males were castrated and moved to the zoo. The male in this picture is the last of those males.

Unfortunately, IAE has made their bed. If they are able to continue breeding, they will be on their own. They have burnt their bridges with the zoos interested in housing the species.
