@pangolin12 I know, right? The idea of keeping kangaroos completely inside year-round is just plain disgusting. Especially in an exhibit that's this tiny.
During the "zoo's" show, they address the horrible size of some of their enclosures and claim that the animals prefer it this way. They claim that they've given their crocodiles and marsupials larger spaces in the past and it just stressed them out and they stopped eaten, only consuming again once they were placed back in their title tanks and stalls..
@ThylacineAlive yeah, they had that sign at the west african crocodile tank. I highly doubt that it's a truthful claim, I can't imagine these animals preferring to live in these sub-par enclosures.
@Neil chace Animals can actually be very finicky and nervous with new surroundings - having tried to move a pet parrot from their old cage to a new cage, I can assure you that some animals will get downright hostile over it that being said, animals shouldn't be used to inadequate enclosures to begin with... and I find it especially hard to believe this kangaroo exhibit meets minimum husbandry standards for them regardless of how nervous they might have been in an outdoor pen.
@ThylacineAlive which would certainly cause a lot of damage that was not evident on my visit. Kangaroos are big, curious animals that could easily break things!
