It was an interesting decision to go with the 'mock-ruin', non-natural look. This pool is similar to what the Downtown Houston Aquarium did for its tigers:
A common theme for Asian complexes. I just visited Tulsa recently as well, and their Asian building is one of the most strongly temple-themed I've ever seen. I'm not a big fan of the design, but I liked Knoxville's complex overall.
