Even less info left on the net about this former Animal Park in Milperra, Sydney, NSW. Had Parrots, Emus, Koalas, Wombats, Echidnas, Kangaroos not to mention Spider Monkeys and Dingoes (Alpine and Desert varieties) along with every farm animal imaginable (Camels, Alpacas, Water Buffalo, Donkeys etc) you could even cuddle a ferret. There was a self rowing mini monorail around the park that was awesome fun!!! Heres one of few information links I managed to find (no photos sadly) http://library.bankstown.nsw.gov.au...=LIBERO:DBK&RSN=785056#ItemInfo785056
'''' Monday 22 September, 1986 SMH: (journalist writers name not published): Jobless build a show farm
Between 50 and 100 unemployed people proved yesterday what they could achieve, given the opportunity to work.
Blue Gum Australian Heritage Farm, a rural education project at Milperra, was opened yesterday by the Federal Minister for Local Government and Administrative Services, Mr Uren.
The nine-hectare farm was built by long-term unemployed people as part of the Commonwealth Employment Program to inform children and parents in the western suburbs about rural life, farm animals and fauna. Under the supervision of skilled labour provided by Bankstown Council, the unemployed were given up to 12 months' work on award wages. They were taught skills on the job, including bricklaying, landscaping, carpentry and labouring. One-third were female.
According to a spokeswoman for the farm, more than half the workers have gone on to full-time employment since the project was completed. ''''
