I have fond memories of Jacksonville Zoo when I visited back in December 2008. I'm not usually a fan of the mock-temple approach to exhibit design, but this zoo does an excellent job with that theme in its spacious South American zone.
@snowleopard Just based on this photo, it looks like the temple theme occupies the visitor area and the animal space has a lot of natural elements. Often the exhibits in faux temple complexes feature a lot of straight lines and hard surfaces. This could be part of the reason you remember it fondly.
