Pink-backed pelican

How do they ensure they don't lose these pelicans, which I assume are completely free-flight?
 
Do I mentionned that they have few american and chilean flamingos with the greater flamingos flock ?:eek::oops::rolleyes:
 
First: Great photo!
Second: It is unbelievable that a scientific leaded zoological institution in Europe does still allow free flying Chilean and American Flamingos (and obviously Pink backed Pelicans) and so give amunition to the arguments of those **** bureaucrats from the "Union list of invasive species"...
 
@zoomaniac To be honest there were a lot of errors made in the past but the zoo do the job every year with the birds. What could they do more when your own birds are mixed with hundred of wild flamingos, pelicans and some escaped birds ?! It's not so simple.
