The Bird House, which has now been closed for 5+ years and is currently scheduled to reopen in "late summer 2022", was originally called "Experience Migration" by the zoo after the closure but that name was later dropped. Despite the zoo dropping that name the focus of the building will still be migratory birds of the Americas. According to the website the building and surrounding area will feature "almost 100 species of birds".
The building will feature 3 aviaries, the first of which is the "Delaware Bay" aviary, which will have shorebirds that one might find in the Delaware Bay area along with horseshoe crabs. The second aviary will be "Prairie Pothole" and will primarily feature ducks, among others. The third and I believe largest aviary is the "Coffee Farm" and will actually have real coffee plants. This aviary will focus on the importance of the wintering grounds for migrating birds (songbirds in this case). The entry lobby will have a viewing window for this aviary.
The exhibits surrounding the building will basically be left the same as before I believe, and the great flight cage received minor renovations but I have no clue if it will actually look any different. I don't have a species list for the exhibit, but based on information from the zoos website and various social media posts it is possible to create a rough list (which I could try and do if anyone wants me too).
I don't usually make posts/comments like this, and I don't really enjoy making posts/comments like this and I have no clue why I felt like making this fairly useless one. But ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This project has been in limbo for so many years that it's easy to forget about it entirely. I recall reading about a $56 million price tag (or thereabouts), but now I'm wondering if the whole thing is even going to be worth that amount of money. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the grand opening pushed until 2023.
