WOW! Asian openbills in private European collection? If more people can breed them in aviculture then this should be a resource for European zoos to get this species.

This species has NEVER been seen in zoos outside Asia in 2015…
 
Very nice indeed - I saw the group at Blackbrook Zoo here in the UK around a decade ago, which unfortunately fell victim to exposure and fox predation not long before the collection closed. To my frustration, I didn't manage to get photographs at the time.... and to my greater frustration, the entire group at Walsrode were then killed by foxes not long before my first visit *there* :P

Unlikely; I believe the ageing group at the private collection where Jo took this photograph represents the last survivors of the privately-held population :(
 
They are indeed the very last ones in Europe, and from what I have heard only one or two birds remain...
