@Chlidonias these tunnels are where the Leafcutter ants take their leaves to cultivate the fungus out of, the other photos of the Leafcutter ants habitat I posted shows where they get their leaves from and they connect to this habitat too
@Julio C Castro the other photos show a fake tree photographed from above. How does this relate to the above photo? Is it underneath that tree? How does the viewing work?
@Chlidonias so the tree connects to this habitat via a tunnel at the base of the tree. This habitat is on a wall along the right side of the tree, it’s at ground level so parallel to the base. You can actually see the same ants collecting their leaves and taking them into this section. Those tunnels have a bubble like viewing window that’s appears slightly magnified to view the ants better, and in some of their viewing windows you can see the growth of their fungus. I’ll take more photos when I visit soon again to show that feature off
