I think when I went in 2016, this was where the leaf turtles[?] were, and the basin was filled with water. [Perhaps replicative of a kitchen of some kind.]
But if the title is referring to how it is now - I don't see why an exhibit like this should be controversial? I agree it is rather depressing to look at, but it is very educational, as so the reptile house can actually leave a worthwhile message. Cotswolds also has a similar display in their reptile house of objects made of reptilian leather, which were seized by customs.
"If you buy goods made from reptiles, you are helping to contribute towards their extinction." - Sign in front of Cotswolds display
@dillotest0 No, I was referring to how it was before the turtles moved out rather than it’s current state, although there are elements to it that remain controversial today.
I can see why the exhibit as it was with the live turtles could be considered controversial, but as it currently stands, I don't have a problem with an exhibit like this in a reptile house.
Which elements may be controversial?
ah..
So I see that there is little context to what is being displayed.. [aside from the parts of turtles]
Even Cotswolds was not so extreme as to ornament their display in such a manner.. it was more to the point!
