Northern Trail - Pronghorn Exhibit

Former Goitered Gazelle Exhibit.
Taken 3/15/21
Not a terrible replacement for goitered gazelle, but still indicative of the horrible trend of species homogenization.

@StoppableSan There May still be one or two Goitered Gazelles behind the scenes, along bough those individuals have likely already passed away. This exhibit was actually home to Pronghorn before the Goitered Gazelles were brought in, so it made sense to bring them back into this exhibit.

@StoppableSan Minnesota prefers cold-hardy species for outdoor exhibits, but many Palearctic bovines (like Chamois, Tibetan gazelles) are hard to be obtained by North American zoos, it is quite dangerous to transport them across the ocean. Not to mention certain species can't adapt to low-altitude environments at all (like Saiga, Chiru). But you are right, more and more zoos have similar collections. The AZA keeps asking zoos to reduce species, but the zoos need those popular ABCs (like Ring-tailed lemur, Meerkats) to retain visitors, so those rarities are abandoned first.
