Why are they not officially a part of the zoo's collection? That seems a bit odd... How many do they have? How long have they kept them? Where did they source them from and are they breeding?
I will say, I don't see them on Zootierliste at Dierenpark Zie Zoo... Again, a bit odd...
They belong to the owner of the park, as does the piece of land this enclosure is on. The owner lives right next to the zoo, which is why these animals are now visible. When you're at the zoos parking lot looking in the direction of the owner's house, you're technially looking at his frontyard, that just happens to have some jackals in them.
They've already bred, they currently have 1.1.3. I think they came from Africa and were
confiscated. There are no long term plans as to what to do with them I think. Not even the staff seems to know for sure.
@TinoPup hopefully we do see a boost in their captive population and they can be dispersed to other collections. I do see the resemblance to South American foxes myself. Good observation.
