Lion SSP study

A quick study of the currently recognised lion subspecies, with regional variations which were considered SSP previously.
Very interesting. However, beside of a more voluminous mane in general and a more rounded part in the upper head region I can not find any logical characteristics from that graphics to distinguish the Southern forms from the Northern forms.
 
@Randomname0183: You're very welcome, although my intention wasn't to criticize, but rather point on the difficulties to show morphologic differences between current and former subspecies of the lion. Seen for example a few Masai and (normal coloured) Transvaal lions in the wild, I would never ever trust myself to bet on which is which. I presume that the last classification for lions isn't done yet...
