Kimya has one of the most pronounced saggital crests I’ve seen in any female gorilla, even more so than Frala at Taronga.
It’s quite a surprise considering how rounded the heads of Kimya’s mother (Kriba) and grandmother (Mouila) were; and indeed Mbeli is very much Mouila’s daughter.
Kimya looks very similar to her late sister, Safiri. I think Mbeli is quite unusual among Kibabu’s daughters in having a round-ish head, most strike me as being quite long.
@marmolady Yes, it’s clearly a trait from Kibabu’s side. Kriba’s daughter Kijivu at Prague Zoo takes after her maternal line, having a rounded head though.
