@TeaLovingDave It was actually my regular spring pilgrimage to our largest onshore seabird colony (the special trip to see an albatross was last year :D ).

It's a pity that it is a sod to reach from my neck of the woods, otherwise I'd definitely visit more often! However, I *am* well-placed for the Farne Islands, so I cannot complain too much.
 
@TeaLovingDave You are also closer to the Bass Rock, which is far more spectacular than Bempton, although you can only see thousnds of gannets and a few gulls. The trips that actually land on the Rock, run by the Scottish Sea Bird Centre, are rather expensive but utterly memorable - provided the weather is good.
