Seen at TerraZoo Rheinberg. Two unsigned species I weren't familiar with. No 1: Thought it was a red tegu at first, but after checking some pictures, I'm not sure.
Unless it's covered in red mud, it looks like an odd breed of Argentine black-and-white tegu, Salvator merianae, perhaps hybridized with the red tegu, Salvator rufescens.
That's not mud, that old wounds, looks like burns- note how the red areas aren't normally scaled. Perhaps from an improperly fitted heat lamp, that's really gotta hurt.
@Swampy Thanks both of you. TerraZoo also works as a reptile rescue center, so I suppose they took him in fairly recently from somewhere, which would explain the wounds and why it wasn't yet signed.
