Lord Howe Island rookery display

This diorama has been a fixture in the Long Gallery for as long as I can remember. Apparently, after an expedition to Lord Howe Island in 1921 by museum staff, three dioramas were created to represent the natural history of the island. This is the sole remaining exhibit of the three, and has been in the same place ever since it went on display back in 1923. It turns 100 next year.

No idea - never saw them and the notice with the information on the exhibit didn't say either, but I would hazard a guess that the forests on the mountains that were the habitat for the Woodhen may have been one of them.
