European zoos should obtain more of this species from private breeders to increase populations for wild-releasing because this is a very endangered bird which habitat was severely fragmented.
@Unenlagia90 The species is sofar completely unknown in European zoos and also in private hands only very few are kept ( and bred ) but you are right that at least some zoos should try to obtain some and start some kind of breeding programm !
I've also seen YouTube videos about this bird kept privately by Vietnamese, by the way for zoos getting this endangered, narrow-ranged and severe population fragmented bird from the wild is unworthy unless there is an ex-situ conservation plan.
@Unenlagia90 they should obtain more bloodlines from this species out of Asia is what you mean? Not from private breeders here in Europe, I hope. The people keeping these are working hard to keep a good population, aviculture (the private trade) is in many ways far more professional and successful than zoos.
