1.5 lions are kept there according to ISIS and this seems about right. I guess the fact that there are still lions in this exhibit is because it is somewhat of a "tradition". It did seem to me that the keepers had done a lot to enrich the animals' lives though. According to their masterplan a new savannah exhibit will being designed for them.
@KevinB Thanks for your reply. Wow, I’d assumed they’d long been relocated to a modern exhibit. When they are, it’d be nice to see this repurposed for a smaller species given it’s history and architecture.
