Yeah it is really very spectacular. A long time ago I read somewhere(sorry I have no time to check where it was - possibly one of the book by H.Hediger???) that in one zoo (Zurich ? Basel?) they put together male and female rhinos only on Sundays, to increase the chance they will copulate and in result to increase the number of visitors. Unfortunately this procedure had to be cancelled after the intervention of the local catholic church bishop.
I don't like such pictures. Hey Guys, keep in mind, kids and teenagers are here also at zoochat and they can this pictures. Such pics can release
traumatic behaviourial disorders, especially for kids from the USA.
i am sorry to tell you....but all the animals in the zoo having sex....this is how we get babies.I think its a part of life and we don't need to make it something frobiden

Along these lines, I was bemused to see that amongst the info boards by Chester Zoo's elephants, there was one picture of elephants mating, with (cough) the exact same appendage, in the exact same state, clearly illustrated for everyone (kids included) to see.
I wasn't offended and wouldn't have been too upset if my 5 year old had noticed it and asked what it was. Similarly, if she asks what animals are doing when they're mating, I'm happy to tell her in simple terms.
It's a fact of life that any child going to any zoo could potentially see animals mating ....... though admittedly I have heard a lot of parents explaining that they're playing piggy-back !
Zebraduiker - I'm a bit confused as to why traumatic behavioural disorders might be prompted by such a picture in kids from the USA (in particular) ??
Can't believe that a church did that lol.
And Zebraduiker: You can't shield them forever. You'll probably find the anti-social kids who go around with behaviourial disorders are the ones who know perfectly well how to behave this way anyway! That's the way it goes in the UK at least
