This enclosure; large, naturalistic and relatively low budget, seems odd to see a sought-after animal such as a panda in.
Maybe it's in the best interest of pandas to not have such extravagant and over-hyped exhibits and zoos should start leaning towards the more level and natural look for the monochromatic bears.
I'm sure the pandas wouldn't mind!
@Nix I agree. The enclosure was built quite quickly because their old enclosure was still fine for them but they were demolishing an old block of flats right next to the zoo which could stress them out and possibly even kill them. Honestly the exhibit hasn’t changed too much from when the area was still part of the zebra and antelope enclosure, exhibit they put in some climbing frames, a fence and some other branches and also a pool. Thing is, the pandas don’t even use much of their exhibit. I’ve seen the male on his climbing frame a few times munching bamboo, but in this photo, this was the first time I actually saw the female outside (if you want to spot her, zoom in on it and you can see the black and white next to the climbing frame)
