Hey @Coelacanth18, sorry for the delay, I just got home from my trip and my tablet keyboard was giving me issues.
Overall, I thought the Greenville Zoo was just alright. It was nice to check out on my way down to Atlanta and I had a good time, but the zoo was not without its faults.
They do have a few good exhibits such as the South American Pampas, Ektopia, and Flamingo Lagoon. It also had some genuine surprises in its collection; I got my first observations of Amur Leopard, Leaf Turtle, Crocodile Lizard, and Schmidt's Red-tailed Guenon (after the latter was a no-show during my ZooTampa visit).
However, I do have to say that exhibit quality on the whole was a bit lacking. The primate exhibits in particular (sans the Orangutan) were a huge sore spot for me. In addition, the zoo heavily utilizes wood-framed cages and metal mesh for its exhibits which, IMO, does not always look aesthetically pleasing and also made it harder to get good photos under certain circumstances. Also, I found some of the exhibits to be a bit too small (the primates, the Harrier Hawk, etc).
That said, it's definitely not bad; it's a good local attraction and its small size made it easy for me to incorporate into my Atlanta trip. It was a good one-and-done zoo, but I don't see myself revisiting it. It's clearly more of a local attraction and not something one would go out of their way to visit, which may explain why it hasn't gotten any attention in the media gallery until you starting uploading recently.
@Astrotom3000 Thanks for the reply. A lot of that is similar to my own thoughts as well. The wood-frame and metal-mesh primate enclosures are par for the course with smaller zoos and they are an eyesore, but given how small the zoo is I was a bit surprised by how nice and modern some of the other enclosures looked. Not the most interesting species lineup, but great for locals.
