@Jambo No, it’s still in the same location. It originally sat in the middle of a circular lawn, divided into quarters. One of these quarters have has been taken up by the tropical dome; while the pathway now encroaches on another two.
They were obviously keen to retain it due to it’s historical significance. It was built in 1923 using a foundation of rocks dug up to construct the hippopotamus exhibit. The South East Asia precinct has already taken out a 1922 lion pit, a 1922 bear pit and a wolf pit (1970’s approx).
