This looks to be a new exhibit, based on the brightness of the wood. However, along with so many of the enclosures at this roadside zoo, it's all a bit tight on space. Too many bare exhibits that are small and lacking enrichment opportunities.
@snowleopard Also where do these animals spend the cold months? I mean I imagine they need to get moved to a different area but those conditions are likely not great…
@nczoofan Maybe there's some of those god-awful (sorry Creation Kingdom!) corn crib cages out back. This place is only a couple of hours from an AZA-accredited facility (Knoxville), but I suppose that's just far enough out in the sticks to attract rural families.
@snowleopard This place gets really busy when it's not raining, I talked to a few people there. Schools constantly do field trips, for example. It's very much a local hotspot - there's not much else in this area - and going even to Knoxville is a "going to the Big City" type deal that most don't do.
I didn't see off-show holdings for any of these, and they're only closed 3 months of the year. They do have an unseen "conservation area" or something where they keep some animals, including ones they're building exhibits for. Two of the three species I'd stopped to see were back there and didn't have exhibits yet.
