While Berlin Tierpark has modernized many of its exhibits and created a much more beautiful, natural zoo...some of the big cats are left with a badly outdated house. Are there plans to renovate the famous Alfred Brehm Haus?
The Alfred Brehm House is actually over at the Tierpark.
I think this building is not so old, hardly more than 40 years old. It is fantastic and I know that a lot has been done to renovate it on the inside, especially downstairs in the nocturnal section, but I have not been there since 2004. The cat cages are the weakest point, but they are having fewer species there, once I think this building housed for instance almost all the leopard species that were found in captivity. And they are not all this bad. Of course the Lion and Tiger open exhibits are excellent, even if decades old.
