Spectacled bear exhibit temporarily serving as a playground area during renovations, 2022-03-16

This is just flat out depressing. The situation is not an ideal one, of course - but even a group of North American porcupines would be preferable to this sad display of creative bankruptcy. The original Zoolex page for the Andean bear habitat showcased a wonderfully creative renovation of the old polar bear den, and to see it in this state... oy.

@StoppableSan As already stated in the title, this situation is temporary because the indoor holding areas are unavailable during the jubilee complex renovations. Unfortunately Covid halted those renovations, but restarting them is planned for later this year, once the large projects at Planckendael are finished.

That said, I do agree that a temporarily animal area - even a goat paddock - would have been preferable to a playground.

I do believe they plan for the spectacled bear exhibit to return after the renovations, unless this area were to be taken up into the planned tiger and snow leopard exhibits the jubilee complex is planned to be turned into.

@aardvark250 I'm aware that this is a temporary solution, but temporary *animals* would be much more preferable than a temporary *playground*.
