Not bad, but as in the Tierpark, wrong labled. Its a malayan tiger :)

edit: And no pic of the last javan leopard or the barbary lions?^^

I've written atstement to the problem with these subspecies, somebody say, its is another subspeccies, some don't, so the Zoo and Tierpark don't accept the malayan tiger as an own subspecies, and I agree. So please understand that and accept my opinion. Thank you.

I've go some shots of the javan leopard at Zoo and Tierpark, but they are not very good, because I had to do the shots through the fence, which is visable on the pictures. So I don't post them. I've made some pics of the lions at the Zoo, I'v posted one here, but I think, pure barabary lions are extinct now. If you like, I can post mor elion pictures .

The Tierpark is keeping Asian Lions, but I have not made any pictures of them.

The thing is, subspicies have nothing to do with belive. It's scientific fact that p.t.jacksoni is a own subspicies. You can't only tell it by the genetic difference but also by eye.

So has been made also genetic tests for the barbarylions that came out they were very pure, so the EAZA now pushes the breeding of them.

Don't mean to upset anyone here but you can't really "deny" a subspecies. Panthera tigris jacksoni is recognized by science and the WAZA and should be treated as such. If all zoos in the major associations just decided to choose which subspecies to recognize it would be impossible to run any breeding programmes!

Does anybody has aked the Zoo berlin, why he is not accept jacksoni as an own subspecies ?

Where are the diffrences between jacksoni and corbetti ?

The subspecies policy, not only tigers, is its own theme, with hundreds of diffrent opinions...What about if in 10 years, for example, a scientist says"he Guys, forget jacksoni as its own subspecies "? So all people, which has belived, jacksoni is its own subspecies, belive then it was wrong ?

I thnik, there are a lot of varieties in a species, which menas not, theer all own subspecies. The Common zebra is good exemple. I've collected many, many articles about zebras, and if you all know, the opinions, how many subspecies of common zebras exist, reaches from 2 up to 80 !

Like I said, it is a very difficult theme....I think, both Berlin Zoos do have a good resaon, not to accept jacksoni. Or maybe they do, but not changed the exhibits signs ? Who knows....

That may be so but the EAZA recognizes malayan tigers as a subspecies and so should the zoos in Berlin.

Tarsius, are you sure that you are not secretly Zebraduiker as well?

Made my day :D

Hey, I'm just saying...

I had the same discussion about the malayan/indochinese tigers with Zebraduikers and got the EXACT samt reply. He even mentioned the grant's zebras as well! Plus, Tarsius' and Zebraduiker's written texts here on the forum is very similar and they both upload endless numbers of photos without any descriptions on them whatsoever.

But who am I to speculate?:p
