@akasha After all the hype of white lions in the region in the early 2000’s, it’s clear they’ll soon be on their way out. I personally have no objection to them. They’re genetically healthy unlike the white tigers and are merely a colour variation of the tawny lion.

Yeah, I like them. I wish that Chad would breed the young tawnys (which potentially have the white gene) at Mogo with the whites at Hunter Valley. Little mixed litters would be so cute!

@akasha Rather than sitting on their now elderly white lions, Zion could have exported their’s to Australia long ago - or swapped two white males for the two male tawny lions in Paradise Valley’s pride, so they didn’t have to repeatedly inbreed. Their latest litter are the product of full siblings.

@Zoofan15 I always thought Shoalhaven and Altina should have swapped males. Two for two and then they’d have each had an unrelated pride.

@Zoofan15 I agree its somewhat over bearing control by the powers that be I can't see any harm with this as you say not inbred as with the white tiger population.

@Zorro It’ll be a shame to see them die out. Paradise Valley’s pride are so inbred. Their latest cubs are the result of 30 years plus of inbreeding (and that’s assuming the circus sourced founders were unrelated). They would have benefited greatly from some new founders if the white lions are otherwise going to waste.
