Taken in 2015 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. In the Blackbuck, Elf’s Deer, Banteng exhibit. Horns are throwing me off for what species this is.

It is a castrated blackbuck male. The horns do not develop normally when they’re castrated at an early age, especially in species where only males have horns.

@Kudu21 my question might be, why did they castrate him? and would it be fair to assume that he isn't the only castrated male in the herd?

@UngulateNerd92 — From other photos in the DAK gallery, it appears they have multiple castrated males. Blackbuck breed like rabbits, and with little institutional interest in the species in the AZA, it makes sense to limit breeding.

@Kudu21 I understand that. I continue to be intrigued by the fact that there are more Blackbuck (Antilope cervicapra) in Texas than there are in the Indian Subcontinent.
