It is a castrated blackbuck male. The horns do not develop normally when they’re castrated at an early age, especially in species where only males have horns.
@UngulateNerd92 — From other photos in the DAK gallery, it appears they have multiple castrated males. Blackbuck breed like rabbits, and with little institutional interest in the species in the AZA, it makes sense to limit breeding.
@Kudu21 I understand that. I continue to be intrigued by the fact that there are more Blackbuck (Antilope cervicapra) in Texas than there are in the Indian Subcontinent.
