Monkey in a street performance

Picture taken by my mother in July 2016. Censored the faces of the trainer and audiences to protect their anonimity
Here's the story behind the picture: My mom and I were on Tokyo tower when we both saw a crowd right next to the tower. When we got out of the tower the crowd was still there so we decided to see what's the big deal. Turns out, there was a street performance which this indignified simian did tricks such as handstands, do flips, and run around.

The only thing protecting the public is a leash and line.

@squatch Why? And release a non-native species into Japan (I assume this isn't a Japanese Macaque but it's hard to tell) because you think this animal might be being abused?

@birdsandbats it honestly boggles my mind that you think this "might" be abuse. it really shows how little you know about this topic, and that you have no right butting in acting like you know what your doing.

as far as i can tell, yes, this is not a japanese macaque, and no, i did not say to release it to the wild. all i said was "free him". maybe try understanding humor before you say something.

@squatch What in this photo suggests abuse to you? Preforming animals is not abuse. Preforming primates have generally fallen out of favor culturally in the West but there's nothing inherently wrong with them any more then trained dogs or cetaceans.

@birdsandbats I lterally cannot believe that I have to post a know your meme link to show what Ebirah was trying yo explain.

Free Him | Know Your Meme

I don't oppose performing primates as an idea, but when the monkey is made to do things that it otherwise wouldn't naturally do such as stand upright, do handstands, and wear clothes like humans it is quite questionable. Not to mention Japan's animal welfare laws aren't the greatest either so the animal's holding enclosure probably isn't good either.
