Obi could well be the future of his species within the region if a match can be arranged with Darling Downs Zoo or an import sourced. Did you see his grandmother (Janice) in the old elephant house?
@Swanson02 That’s a shame. I assume because of Covid? It’s great to see an elephant house repurposed as a museum of sorts. Much more exciting than Auckland and Wellington’s elephants houses which are cafes.
@Zoofan15 yeah I assume it was due to covid. I wonder what Taronga will do with their old elephant house when they eventually phase out (the bull paddock at least)
@Swanson02 It’s heritage listed, so luckily they can’t demolish it. It also means they can’t make major alterations, so a hall of memorabilia seems the most likely. It’s an impressive building, though it’s been noted a design based on a Hindu temple would have been more fitting.
