elefante 11 Aug 2022 Thanks. They reminded me of muscovy ducks but I knew that couldn't be the case. Are these in zoos anywhere?

KevinB 11 Aug 2022 @elefante I don't know now about North America, but in Europe they are kept in a dozen or so zoos, so they are kept but not commonly.

Mr Gharial 11 Aug 2022 @KevinB They're also kept as domesticated species, which have become invasive nearly worldwide
KevinB 11 Aug 2022 @Mr Gharial Are you sure that is not another goose species, like the Egyptian goose?
KevinB 11 Aug 2022 @Mr Gharial True, domestic Muscovy ducks can be an invasive species, but the birds shown here from Kenya are spur-winged geese, and I was talking about that species. The wild Muscovy duck is from South America.

Mr Gharial 11 Aug 2022 Ah, my apologies. The Muscovy duck addition threw me off a bit. You are correct about the Spur-winged geese!

nczoofan 12 Aug 2022 @KevinB A few North American zoos have them as well: Sylvan heights, Dallas, Cleveland, and San Diego at least.

elefante 12 Aug 2022 @KevinB I think I posted an Egyptian goose picture. I saw many of those on my visit.
