malayan tiger 030910

It's Malayan Tiger, Berlin Zoo is not keeping Indochinese Tigers !

In fairness, don't the Berlin zoos deny the existence of the Malayan Tiger and still label them as Indochinese? They certainly did last I heard.

I must admit I cannot remember what the label said, but I labelled this picture according to www.Zootierliste.de who have it down as Malayan tiger (Jackson's tiger). So, I have altered the listing. Regards

They are Malayan Tigers, but these were split from Indochinese Tigers a few years back and last I heard Berlin still called theirs Indochinese (exactly why, I don't know). :)

I don't know why Dr. Blaskiewitz isnt' accepting Malayan Tigers as an own subspecies, not every scientist is doing that, so he isn't alone with his opinion. On the other side, he is an Old School Animal Collector and should be happy about a new subspecies in his collection...

On the Exhibit sign the Berlin zoo tigers are labeld as Indochinese Tigers.
