Perhaps the crown jewel of the centre as it is! There are three brown hyaenas living at the centre. These three, as well as an elderly pair living at Prague, represent the only individuals of their species on public view in Europe.
Though speaking of breeding - I remember on the tour coming to the enclosure for Striped Hyaena - that the hyaena was in a burrow, and was coaxed out only by the offer of chicks, allowing for a few photos to be taken! The guide told us that it was because recently some cubs had been born - I'm not sure how the husbandry of Brown Hyaenas differs from that of Striped Hyaenas, but hopefully the recent breeding success in that species can allow for success in this one as well !
