@snowleopard I totally agree with you. You might have some criticism of the way the drills and collared mangabeys are housed (although both aviaries are nicely built in themselves and fit very well in the courtyard atmosphere of that complex). But beyond that, you would almost regret that they have a masterplan that requires many species to switch places.
@snowleopard The rhino house is really poor indoors, but generally the level is indeed quite high. That said plenty of enclosures still have some faults and apart from some of the hoofstock paddocks there is nothing that is of extremely high quality.
@snowleopard I've never been before, but from what I have seen Munich has an impressive zoo. I think it's generally underrated on this site. Nothing is particularly spectacular but everything is done to a good standard. But it doesn't get the recognition it deserves because it's in Germany. It doesn't have the collection of Berlin or Frankfurt, the history of Wilhelma or Hagenbeck, the modernity of Leipzig, Gelsenkirchen or Hannover, or the individual stand out species previously seen at Koln (douc) and Duisberg (boto). If it was located in any other European country (apart from the Netherlands, perhaps) it would almost certainly be the best or second best in the country. But that last part could be said of most of Germany's major zoos!
