A zoo in Germany, I don't remember which one, also had a pair of javan tigers (now extinct)! I read about this in an out-of-print book called Animal Gardens (I think). It was a tour of world zoos written in the 1960's - I stumbled across it years ago at a local used book shop. (I do not own it anymore so I cannot look up the zoo).

That would have been Zoo Berlin - I have a copy of Emily Hahn's 'Animal Gardens' at home in Iceland but this pictures have been featured in more books.
