It's great to see these high quality photos of the new Himalayan zone at Berlin Tierpark. What did you make of that renovated area? Better than it was?
@snowleopard Thank you! Everything new, is the (not so) well forgotten old, they say. I definitely enjoy it, but not because it was revolutionary new, but because I missed it They are some new, aesthetically pleasant enrichments and more comfortable viewing points, but in the end of the day is the good old Mountain Landscape with some changes in line ups
How much of the Himalayan zone is actually new? It looks like perhaps only the red panda and tufted deer enclosure was added during the renovation of the area. Still, it all looks very well done with an excellent species line up.
@pachyderm pro There is no completely new developed area. They are using less space than before and the former Transcaspian Urials area is restricted. The Red Panda exhibit is the former Bharal exhibit, actually. It looks great, no question about it, but it was always been one of the best parts of the zoo. The Kiangs, Red Pandas, Snow Leopards, François Langurs, Pare David Squirrels + some birds are all new for the area.
