Calgary Zoo rebranded itself as the "Wilder Institute" in 2016, with the name change shedding light on the facility's conservational focus. The zoo has an off-site Wildlife Conservation Centre that has never been open to the public.
@snowleopard I believe I saw that referenced in their online species list where some animals including in the collection were mentioned as being located there and thus not visible to the public.
It was a long drive today…but I’d like to pick up on that line of discussion tomorrow. There is a lot to unpack there…mostly regarding guild/clergy elitism and questions of classism.
