@Mr Gharial Both aviaries were in poor condition, especially the large aviary. I heard from the manager of AquaZoo that on some parts of the aviary, the wooden structure was kept upright by the wire mesh and netting, instead of the other way around. The aviary was also quite old. It was built in 2004 for a group of turkey vultures.
@MennoPebesma It is a shame these structures have a lifetime of less than 20 years. This is the case in so many Dutch zoos, even some of the biggest ones.... And usually it is a problem long term if you only build for short term gain....
