How much land area was in this exhibit? Judging by this photo, it appears Gulf Breeze has fallen into the (admittedly fairly common in Pygmy hippos) trap of not taking into account the species' natural history- and that they tend to spend more time on land than in the water!
@Neil chace. I believe the area surrounding the ponds. On my second visit I did observe one of the animals on land and missed the opportunity to get a photograph before it entered the water.
