I would recognise those brown "walls" and the log poles anywhere. The Kruger is my favourite place in the world!
I have visited many times and always long to be there.

What camp(s) did you visit? Without much help from the photo I would guess Pretoriuskop, Berg-en-dal or Skakuza.

Did you keep track of the species that you saw? I am always interested to hear what other people have seen!

I think it was Skakuza - but it was over 10 years ago, so don't really remember. Will dig out the full photo set and let you know; also on the species-list. :)

Yes - it was Skakuza, but we also stayed at Sabie camp.
Incidentally - looking at this and other pics from that trip again, I'm wondering if this photo is of Lamprotornis chalybaeus, rather than L. nitens. We certainly saw both....
Thoughts?

I believe the photo is probably Lamprotornis chalybaeus yes, but in South Africa, especially the Kruger, Lamprotornis nitens is also common and so I trust you have seen both.

Lower Sabi is an amazing camp. I haven't stayed there much, because we usually visit the North. But Lower Sabi is definitely up there with some of the best camps.

Skukuza is also great, but given it is almost the size of a town it doesn't give me the same atmosphere as the smaller camps and sightings are often crowded by cars blocking your view. Though it is the largest camp in the Kruger and as such it has a lot of great guest facilities!
