Yucatan white tailed deer

thanks for the pictures from Xcaret, they bring back some happy holiday memories!

I remember the brocket(s) being on the other side of this walkway. Just speculating... is this definitely not a white-tailed deer?

@Skukuza to be honest I am actually not 100% sure as it was not signed that I saw, I could certainly be incorrect.

When were you there? We were just there this past week, it was on an excursion we bought from a cruise stop in Cozumel. The park is really cool, we definitely did not have enough time to explore as much of the park as we would have liked to, and it was all quite rushed. The aviary was incredible!

@SwampDonkey

mid 2010's so a long while back.

I did the reverse to you and made it out to Cozumel for a day trip whilst staying on the mainland.

Looking at your avatar... did you make it to Dolphin Discovery Cozumel? I did an incredible swim with manatee experience there.

The Xcaret aviary is absolutely world class and one of my favourite ever exhibits. Which is some endorsement as I rarely stop long for birds at zoos normally.

Also thought the Jaguar/Puma exhibit was very innovative, stood on the bridge in a rainstorm it was very immersive.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable/informed on this deer will weigh in when they see these comments/pics as I am no expert.

Thanks again.

@Skukuza actually, the manatee is a picture my wife took here in Florida at Crystal River a few years back. They are wild here and are around pretty much year round, you can snorkel with them in the springs. The jaguar and puma exhibits were cool, it is the first time I have seen them in an open enclosure, they are nearly always netted in here or in fully enclosed habitats of some sort.
