@Dhole dude it is a recent arrival. This exhibit has housed a rotating menagerie in the years I’ve visited the zoo. Prior to the Ermine it housed a Northern Flying Squirrel. Before that it was home for several years to a Black-billed Magpie…and before that a Raccoon. Of all the inhabitants…the Magpie was the only one I actually saw.
 
@TinoPup Yeah. Easy for most places to afford though, versus trying to get something custom. It would be interesting to see a more naturalistic version of the tube systems used instead of the glaring multi-colored plastic.
 
@Great Argus I guess the species that use them aren't popular enough for a company to design them. The pet store ones look awful in exhibits, though (unless we're doing disco hippos here), and they have a lot of safety issues.
