@snowleopard I've been to a total of two Ohio zoos I spent two days at Columbus, and then this one visit to Cincinnati. This was on my trip to Nashville, then I visited friends in Lexington and did a few day trips from there. I really have no idea how to categorize this place! I wasn't sure I was going to make it because it was supposed to rain, and it did end up pouring near the end of my visit but I was able to wait it out. Exhibit-wise, I don't think anything truly amazed me other than the blue penguins. The tiger and snow leopard exhibits are great, but the tigers weren't out and snow leopards were in the cave, so those weren't quite as exciting (and my shoes got very wet from the path design). Night Predators is great because of the species it contains, exhibit-wise it's kinda meh.
I found the paths highly confusing. I did the zoo counter-clockwise, skipping Roo Valley at first (to try and get to Predators with the lights on), and the things circling off the main path works well. But I initially missed the galapagos tortoises, and then missed a bunch of stuff in the middle due to confusing and the threat of rain. I skipped the elephants, my feet were tired and it was near closing time.
Species-wise it's a really great zoo, as long as you can forget about the species that were there even a decade or two ago
The gift shop sucked.
@TinoPup My girlfriend and I have made it a goal to grab a shirt from every zoo gift shop we visit. So far we've had success at every other place but our very own local zoo because it's just hippos, hippos, hippos everywhere you look.
Oh! BATHROOMS. Bathrooms are hard to find, mostly hidden well behind buildings with poor signage. The ones that were sensory-friendly, or for specific disabilities, were all locked. This is a major issue for me.
@TinoPup I've thought about your gift shop comment every time I've visited the zoo. I went in the main gift shop the other day and they now do in fact have cheetah apparel.
