@Jambo It appears their adult male/s have died or transferred out as they only had females and juveniles on my visit. Since the short term plan for the Cheetah exhibit is to house Nyala in there, I’m wondering if they have something else planned for this exhibit.

@Swanson02 It’s pretty small. It once held Cheetah and then for a few years held a pack of African wild dogs. It’s last inhabitant was a single male Lowland nyala. I’d love to see an Eastern bongo in there! It’s suitable for ungulates, but certainly not a herd of them.

This enclosure would be perfectly suited for Bongo imo. I'm suprised Wellington haven't imported any Bongo. They can - and they've only imported a female from Singapore who was always only temporarily staying at Wellington to bypass the import restriction laws in Australia.

@Jambo Me too. The female bongo was held in the Savannah exhibit during her stay at Wellington; but his exhibit has since held nyala, so there’s facilities to accomodate ungulates in here. It’d be a nice link to the African savannah (albeit a different biome); as they’re both African ungulates and visitors could compare and contrast with the nyala.

@Zoofan15 - "This exhibit offers them a reasonable amount of privacy as the viewing is from above" - there is also viewing from the front of the enclosure from the path, not just from up on the giraffe platform. I've seen the Boer Goats in this enclosure sometimes as well, but usually it is empty.

@Chlidonias It’ll be interesting to see what it’s used for long term. Am I correct that in the 2000’s, one half (the other being the Capybara exhibit) held the elderly Cheetah (Asante and Etosha); and the other, the African wild dog - with the wild dogs given the run of both after the passing of the Cheetah?
