Melbourne’s exhibit is so similar to Auckland’s old exhibit. A high back wall with climbing structures in a grassed field. Unlike the gorilla exhibit, it’s looking very dated - but the sway poles are fantastic and something I’ve seen Malu get great enjoyment from in videos I’ve seen.
The back walls freshly painted, which is nice. It was used to be dark brown, giving it that old grotto feel to it.
I've seen the orangutans make nice use of the platforms. All three frequently climb to the highest one, which I can imagine they can see the whole city from. But Malu also spends a lot of time on the ground, and enjoys exploring floor of his enclosure. He's a very curious orangutan
