I forgot, as @Ituri said, they had a pure blooded black (melanistic) Indochinese leopard in the current jaguar exhibt (which held clouded leopards in between the two bigger cats). I also forgot they had a black jaguar in a moat that I think was demolished to build the monkey walk-through?
If I remember correctly, the jaguar was Orson (name?) who lived out the rest of his days at San Diego Zoo. The leopard, I think, was a mascot from a US Navy ship that was donated to the zoo and lived out its days there.
The leopard lived on the africa trail where Aldabra tortoise is now before that. Before Orson arrived as a cub they had spotted jaguars in the grotto that was demolished for monkey village
