Chapultepec zoo now has 3 bear species, American black bears of the Mexican subspecies, 2 elderly European brown bears and Elderly female giant panda Xin Xin, daughter of the London zoo panda Chia Chia. Last year Andean bear Charlie, born at Jersey zoo , died.
When panda Xin Xin passes away that will end the long history of pandas at Chapultepec. It is too expensive to rent them. There are no plans to replace her now.
