Chapa tree mouse (Typhlomys chapensis)

Other photos from Moscow are labeled as T. cinereus - do they have both species, or is one or the other labelling incorrect?

@Chlidonias

As I understand it, the offshow Moscow holdings were listed as T. cinereus chapensis back when they were alive.

Interesting. I had been misled by popular articles calling them the Chinese species, but looking more deeply the papers detailing the original ultrasonic studies at Moscow were indeed with the Vietnamese species but then further studies were done in China (on Chinese species) and the popular articles were merging information together.

Sorry, completely forgot to reply!

That's my mistake, the label on the enclosure clearly says T. cinereus (and a male for what that's worth!) and I'll change the name accordingly. However very interesting that it's more complicated than that.

Ed. or not because I can't change the name.

@Dormitator

You were actually correct first time - they *are* chapensis, but Moscow only recognises the taxon as a subspecies of cinereus per my above remarks!

Ahh right, I'm with you now!

Either way, gorgeous little thing and a shame there aren't more around.
